ShanghaiPRIDE plans the 9th edition of the annual PRIDE Festival. The Festival is approaching fast. Gay Asia Traveler is excited to be associated with the ShanghaiPRIDE. The theme this year is “The Time is Now”.
The director of this beautiful voluntary organization Evie Wu shares that the festival was focused from its humble beginnings on a community that is built on love, friendship and relationships. “2018 will be the 10th anniversary celebration of ShanghaiPRIDE. The time is now to move forward and take action”. This year’s ShanghaiPRIDE theme calls for action to love without fear and live an open life.
The Shanghai Pride has become classic in China as the longest-running PRIDE. The festival launches an ambitious new project called CnPRIDE, a nationwide and city-engaging PRIDE that debuts as part of the 10th anniversary. This year’s focus is to raise funds and spread awareness through its series of sports, cultural, social, and educational programs.
Previous event highlights are returning for the 9th edition of ShanghaiPRIDE and exciting new ones have been added to the program. ShanghaiPRIDE Theatre Festival takes originals with English and Chinese language offerings to the stage and will tackle relevant LGBTQ issues. The PRIDE talk will host 10 speakers to discuss more serious stuff on gender and sexuality. ShanghaiPRIDE Film screens Canadian, Danish, Dutch, Swedish and US Movies at the Goethe Institute. A Chinese Filmmakers competition will showcase Chinese LGBTQ short films with the winner to enter the prestigious UK Iris Prize Festival.
Other events are the annual ladies party and an art and photo exhibition. The Pride Run returns on 17 June including the famous pink brunch and proceeds donated to Growth Group by Rainbow Anti-Gender-Based Violence Service Center in Common Language. Rocking new to the festival is the PRIDE Rock Festival where local bands share the PRIDE stage for a day of rhythm and tunes.
