Shanghai, the largest city by population in the People’s Republic of China is one of the famous tourist destinations in the world. Taking its part in commerce, culture, finance, media, fashion, technology, and transport, it has become a global city , a major financial center and the busiest container port in the world.

Sitting at the mouth of the Yangtze River, Shanghai plays a significant part in the booming economy of China boasting its historical landmarks such as The Bund – the waterfront area of Shanghai that has become a favorite tourist spot; City God Temple or Chenghuang Miao – a large temple complex that serves as the traditional district of commerce in the city; Yuyuan Garden – a Garden of Happiness or Peace; and Lujiazui – the only finance and trade zone in mainland China.

Shanghai has a massive collection of buildings and structures in distinct architectural styles. To name some are the Shanghai Museum – the best museum in China that has 11 galleries and more than a hundred thousands historic artifacts; Shanghai Grand Theater which showcases incredible talents of Shanghai Acrobatic troupe, and Shanghai Oriental Art Center – one of the leading cultural centers and performing arts. Shanghai also houses beautiful parks and resorts as well as tourist attractions you should not dare to miss.
