Phnom Penh

Once dubbed “Pearl of Asia”, Phnom Penh unwittingly conjures an image of the exotic – the glistening spires of the royal palace, the fluttering saffron of the monks’ robes, and the luscious location on the banks of the mighty Mekong. Phnom Penh is truly one of Asia’s undiscovered gems. Recent urbanization efforts are changing the city’s character and classic skyline as new wave of investors force upon a modern version of Cambodia’s premier city.

Take a journey into the ancient past through the National Museum or try to understand the recent trauma at Tuol Sleng Museum – to have a sense of the impact of war and revolution in this country. Pick between the city’s markets or the beautiful boutiques for great shopping bargains. Wade through the local stalls for a snack or head to the refined surroundings of a designer restaurant. Visit the Phnom Chisor, a temple from the Angkorian era, nestled in a solitary hill in Takeo province. Marvel at the wildlife sanctuary Phnom Tamao, home for animals saved from poachers’ traps. To move around the city, guests may take bus plying major routes around the city. A cross roads of past and present, Phnom Penh is a fusion of charm and chaos that continue to captivate many people from all over.
