. . .
A short drive from Bangkok, Pattaya is another lively beach resort getaway in Thailand known for its wide array of water-sports, several attractions and a brigade of nightlife scenes and venues for which it is notoriously known for. Pattaya used to be Thailand’s original resort town after it became a popular watering hole for GIs in the Vietnam War. To date, Pattaya’s vibrant and lively nightlife continues to draw crowds from all four sexual orientations, enjoying an array of pubs, clubs, discos, and bars with smokey eyed go go girls and bars and gay friendly venues with transsexual shows.
Although Pattaya is dominated by the nightlife scene, tourists enjoy the beautiful Pattaya, Koh Larn and Jomtien Beaches. Jomtien is the only gay beach in Pattaya. Partygoers will never be disappointed with the rip-roaring activities happening in Pattaya. Also a haven for food lovers, Pattaya offers a number of al fresco dining areas, high-end European eateries, street vendors selling BBQ sticks, and a few fine dining restaurants in some luxury hotels in Pattaya.
Its proximity to Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport attracts many week-end visitors to Pattaya from Eastern European package tourists and single males. Hotels are aplenty and one can choose from high-end hotels, week-end condos or beach accommodations. Considering the traffic situation in Pattaya, moving around is best done with a rented motorbike or scooter.
