Jakarta is the largest and capital city of Indonesia. A fast growing and developing city, Jakarta is known to be the most populous city in Southeast Asia. Despite its fast growing population, it is the center of the country’s economic, cultural, educational and political innovations and advancement. With its different tribes, language, culture, customs and religion added with its abounding tourist attractions, no wonder Jakarta is a worthy place to explore and discover.
Jakarta is located on the northwest coast of Java, at the mouth of the Ciliwung River on Jakarta Bay. It is rich with museums and cultural institutions depicting the city’s wealthy past. Its landmarks consist various monuments and statues commemorating Indonesia’s national heroes. Mosques and traditional churches also mark significant symbols in the city. High buildings such as hotels and commercial establishments are arising in the city but Wisma 46 is a captivating sight as it is the tallest building in Indonesia and one of the tallest buildings in the world. On the other hand, the most aged Hotel Indonesia – Kempinski (HI) is a major landmark and a well-known 5-star hotel in the city.
Aside from its famous buildings, monuments and statues, Jakarta also offers a wide range selection of Indonesian specialties and international cuisines from various food stalls and first-class restaurants. It is also known for its recreational parks such as the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or “Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park”, Taman Lapangan Banteng or “Buffalo Field Park” and Dunia Fantasi or “Fantasy World”. The Ragunan Zoo in south Jakarta is another charm that serves as a home to almost three hundred animal species. Jakarta also boasts its sports facilities as well as shopping malls that make it more convenient and satisfying for any tourist visitor.
