A favorite tourist destination for adventure and recreation that boosts Indonesia’s tourism industry is an island of Bali. Known as the Island of the Gods, Bali features many interesting places from white beaches, waterfalls, forests, hills and mountains to animal parks, gardens, temples and museums. Its intricate art forms including sculptures, paintings and even classical and modern dances and music make the island more attractive to visitors.
Exploring some of the attractions in Bali bring you to Ubud where the centre of Balinese painting lies in Ubud’s Museum “Purl Lukisan”. It houses great collection of artworks from famous local and foreign artists. Going further is a popular beach for surfing, Kuta. It is a famous tourist attraction that captures beautiful sunsets. Another tourist resort is Nusa Dua which features luxurious hotels and clean white beaches.
One of Bali’s most important sea temples is the pilgrimage temple at Tanah Lot which sits on the rock formation surrounded by the sea. Another temple known as the “Mother Temple of Bali” is Pura Besakih. It is the most important, the largest and the holiest temple of Hindu religion in Bali. Pura Kehen is also one of the largest divine temples in the island.
Other remarkable landmarks in Bali are the Gunung Batur volcano – an active volcano that is considered to be the second holiest volcanoes in the island; Terraced Rice Paddies – a stunning view for beautiful landscape; Batubulan – a village where divinities and demons are carved from sandstones; and Gianyar – the heart of Bali’s textile industry.
